“What is your ideal home like?”
The habitat is the foundation stone of the equilibrium of the being.
The home is a topic everyone has something to say about.
This thought and the dream of living in harmony with the natural environment in a house designed for me was the starting point of “a long-term project: the ideal home.”
I wondered what other people thought about it, and so I started carrying out a series of interviews.
Listening to the responses.
The homes are placed together in the same virtual environment, while respecting – if described – the desire for isolation, proximity and setting of the various houses, together forming a communal landscape.
The question “What is your ideal home like?” – triggers detailed and highly original tales.
Each story is interesting, from the experience and sentiment of individuals who feel themselves to be eternally ‘uprooted’ and foreign, to the invention of a house made out of iridescent, disappearing material: one which rapidly adapts to any environmental condition it encounters.
While transcribing the interviews, I realised just how much a great number of desires are shared; how many recurrent elements there are, such as the nearness of trees, the sea, and the continuous contrast between the realistic and the utopian, in a sort of presentiment and suffering in the face of the impossibility of any coexistence between the urban and natural dimensions, and in general of the powerlessness of individuals to make their own dreams come true.
Why, with so many shared desires, don’t we try to make our dreams come true?
